Blackmon won a scholarship to The Oxford American Summit for
Ambitious Writers. The scholarship was one of five available to college
students in Arkansas.

Kristi McKim's essay "A Home for Cinephilia in Bernardo
Bertolucci's The Dreamers"
appears in the recent collection Cinephilia
in the Age of Digital Reproduction, vol. 2 (Wallflower/Columbia UP, 2012),
edited by Scott Balcerzak and Jason Sperb. Her book Love in the Time of Cinema (Palgrave Macmillan) was published in
December 2011. In Spring 2012, she was promoted to the rank of Associate
Professor.
Dorian Stuber has published pieces on J.G. Farrell at Open Letters Monthly and on Holocaust literatures in War: Critical Insights (Salem Press, 2012).
Tyrone Jaeger's lyric novella The Runaway Note was
published in July 2012 by the small press Shakespeare & CO., Toad Suck. His
story "True Believers" was published in the Best of the South
2012 issue of The Oxford American, and he recently started
writing an online column for the magazine entitled "State of Wonder:
Notes from the Upland South." His review of John Edgar Wideman's Briefs appeared
in Permafrost (Winter 2012). With Steve Kistulentz
(Millsaps College), he is co-coordinating the
conference "Workshopping the Workshop: A Roundtable on Creative
Writing Pedagogy," which will take place on February 21-22, 2013
at Millsaps College.
This past spring, Amanda Hagood participated in Centre
College's Green Week+ program, guest
lecturing in English and Environmental Studies classes, and presenting a talk
entitled "Dead Meat: Margaret Atwood and the Language of Carnivory".
This semester, she is collaborating with Dr. Carmel Price of Furman University
on a blended learning initiative which will bring students in her English class
into conversation with environmental sociology students at Furman to promote an
interdisciplinary discussion of environmental issues.
Alex Vernon’s edited collection, War: Critical Insights, was published by Salem Press. He continues his work as the James
and Emily Bost Odyssey Associate Professor of English, traveling with students
to Vietnam.
Carol West is using her Isabelle Peregrin Odyssey
professorship to teach students about technology and African literature. This
summer, she traveled with a group of students to conferences in England and
South Africa.
Toni Wall Jaudon gave an invited lecture at the University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign’s symposium “American Literatures / American
Religions.” She will travel to Puerto Rico to present research at the Early
Caribbean Society’s second meeting. Her article “Obeah’s Sensations: Rethinking
Religion at the Transnational Turn” will appear in American Literature in December 2012.

After completing her Fulbright in South Korea, Colleen
Mayo will remain in the country for an additional year to teach English
to fifth graders in Gwangju.
Congratulations to Caufield Schnug
(ENGF '12) for receiving a full tuition scholarship and living and research
stipend to Harvard University's Film and Visual Studies PhD program, where he
began studies this fall. Caufield also published "The Plight of the Screen
Animal: Animal Disappearance and Death on Film" in Film Matters (March 2012).
Ashley Wells has entered the M.A. program for Film and
Television Studies at Dublin City University.
Abby Coleman is studying poetry at The New School’s MFA
program in New York City.
Mason Boling is attending law school at the University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville.
Colin Bagby is studying at the Divinity School at Emory.
Laura Podd is traveling on a Watson Fellowship.
Savannah Saunders is teaching at Montessori school in
Fayetteville.
Timothy Wojcik is working at a literary agency in New York
City.
Sydnee Abernathy is beginning the MFA program at Wichita
State.
Hanna Al-Jibouri is teaching with Teach for America in Tulsa,
Oklahoma.
Beth Pond entered an MFA program in nonfiction in Vancouver,
British Columbia.
Susan Meyer works for Rosen Publishing in New York City,
where she does copywriting, marketing, and editing. She has also written five
young adult nonfiction books for Rosen.
Taylor Adams is studying in the MFA program at U. Maryland.
Matt Sharos just started the MFA program in poetry at
Columbia College Chicago.
Kevin
Brannon just received his M.A. in English literature from Columbia (NYC).
