“I couldn’t imagine a school that would better prepare me for teaching than Hendrix did. The professors at Hendrix were so wonderful and so helpful. They wanted me to do my best, and I did. I have my diploma from Hendrix hanging in my office at school and every time I look at it I smile because I remember the wonderful times and the wonderful people that helped me make it to where I am today. Anytime that an administrator or an athletic director introduces me to someone from outside of the school, and especially from outside of the district, I am always introduced with, ‘This is Beth Fenske…(blah, blah, blah)… She went to Hendrix.’ I stand there and smile, proud to say that I graduated from Hendrix. To me, there is no better school or staff that could compare to that of Hendrix College!”
Beth Tyler-Hashemi '00 loves teaching social studies at Carl Stuart Middle School in Conway. Her focus is on 7th grade World Geography. She also coaches the CSMS 8th grade cheer squad. She is a 2000 graduate of Hendrix’s Elementary Education program.
"My experience as a Hendrix graduate could not have prepared me more for the turns I’ve taken since beginning teaching my teaching career six years ago. My time in the elementary program not only taught me the practical knowledge necessary to begin my first year teaching fourth grade, but the continued support from the faculty was invaluable during this time. When I looked to make the move to the middle school level, I looked to my Hendrix education once again. My Hendrix experience enriched my desire to be a life-long-learner, a necessary aspiration when tackling a new subject area and age group! Six years later, I realize even more how I learned not only the basics of teaching at Hendrix, but also the flexibility and confidence needed to adapt to the ever changing educational world."
