CLINTON, Miss. (Dec. 30, 2008) -- Hendrix College junior Christina Byler scored a season-high 32 points, however, Mississippi College scored 29 points off of the Warriors’ 21 turnovers and extinguished a late surge to take the 69-59 contest on Tuesday at the Baptist Healthplex.

Hendrix falls to 6-3 on the year and will take its 0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark into a tough conference weekend. The Warriors will travel to Southwestern University (3-7, 0-2) on Jan. 2 before taking on the SCAC’s West Division leader, Trinity University (7-2, 2-0), on Jan. 3.

Mississippi broke away after a close opening 10 minutes of action with a 28-10 run to close the first half. The Chocotaws took a 38-19 advantage into the break.

Mississippi grabbed its largest lead of the game (21 points) with 16:06 left in regulation before Hendrix used a 20-6 run over the next 10 minutes to claw its way back in to the affair, making it 52-45 with 6:19 to go. The Chocotaws shrugged off the surge and did not allow the Warriors to bring the game any closer and eventually led by 12 points with under a minute remaining.

Byler (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy) was just three points shy of her career-high 35 points against University of the Ozarks on Dec. 31, 2007. She pulled down 11 boards for her first double-double of the season and shot 11-of-19 from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Warriors’ junior forward Chelsey White (Dardanelle, Ark./H.S.) added eight points and four rebounds, while sophomore guard Jamie Sterrenberg (Cabot, Ark./H.S.) scored six and grabbed four balls off the glass. Hendrix shot 41 percent from the field as a team, but missed on all five shots from behind the arc.
