JACKSON, Miss. -- Hendrix College opened its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season with a 3-pointer from junior forward Michael Bertrand and never looked back as they did not see a deficit the entire game. Hendrix first year guard Ammon Martin scored a career-high 19 points in the Warriors’ 73-61 victory over the Majors Saturday afternoon at the Hangar Dome.

Hendrix rolls to 5-1 with its fifth-straight win and improves to 1-0 in SCAC action, while Millsaps falls to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in league play. The Warriors will now host Central Baptist College on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in Grove Gymnasium.

The Warriors controlled the pace during the first half and stretched their advantage to 33-24 at the break. Hendrix never let up during the second half led by at least 10 points for over 14 minutes to end the game.

The Warriors’ bench proved to be the difference maker as they outscored the Majors’ bench 31-11. Hendrix tallied 14 points off the fast break, compared to Millsaps’ three points.

Martin’s (Conway, Ark./H.S.) game-high performance came off 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Senior guard Ryan Wible (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite H.S.) scored a season-high 13 points, while senior forward David Foley (The Colony, Texas/H.S.) added 10 points to the mix. Junior guard Janson Hightower (Owasso, Okla./H.S.) dished out a season-best nine assists. Senior forward Andrew King (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit Preparatory) was just one point away from a double-double with nine points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
