CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- Hendrix College senior forward Andrew King posted his first double-double of the year with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Warriors’ 64-61 season-opening loss at the University of the Ozarks in front of a packed house at the Mabee Center.

Turnovers plagued Hendrix as the team handed the ball over 21 times in the affair. Ozarks took advantage of the Warrior mistakes as they tallied 23 points off turnovers.

Hendrix saw an early lead slip away with 6:12 left in the first half and would not see an advantage for the remainder of the game. The Eagles stretched their lead to 10 points by the end of the break, 36-26, and led by as many as 12 points on two occasions during the second half.

The Warriors managed to cut their deficit to one point with 5:23 remaining in regulation, however, Ozarks held off a late surge by Hendrix to come away with the win. Eagles guard Tony Brock went to the line in a one-and-one situation with 20 seconds left and missed the second, giving the Warriors the ball and a chance to tie. Hendrix missed on three chances from behind the arc to knot the affair with less than 10 ticks remaining.

King’s (Dallas, Texas) game-high performance was backed by fellow senior forward David Foley (The Colony, Texas) with 15 points and seven boards. Warriors’ junior guard Cal Rose (Blytheville, Ark.) was 3-of-6 from long range for nine points in the contest. Senior guard Ryan Wible (Gilbert, Ariz.) and junior guard Janson Hightower (Owasso, Okla.) tallied three assists apiece.

Hendrix shot 41 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point land, but shot just 59 percent from the charity stripe.
