Dan Priest enters his sixth season at the helm of the Hendrix men's basketball program.  He has accumulated a 64-61 overall record and 29-42 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark as the Warriors' head coach.  Priest took over a program that went 0-23 overall in the 2003-04 stretch and has turned Hendrix into one of the best teams in the conference with a 19-7 overall and 11-3 SCAC record in 2008-09.  He has led the Warriors to three-straight winning seasons, three-consecutive SCAC Championship Tournaments and two-straight first round victories over Oglethorpe University as the tournament's host school in 2008 and 2009.  Hendrix narrowly missed a chance to play for the SCAC Title in Grove Gymnasium last year after a 77-78 thriller against Centre College.

Prior to coming to Hendrix, Priest led a highy successful five-year tenure as the head coach at Ohio Dominican University (Columbus, Ohio).  He compiled a 90-71 overall record, which included a record setting 20-15 mark during the 2001-02 campaign (3rd team in Panther history to win 20 games).  Under his guidance, the Panthers qualified for the American Mideast Conference Tournament three times and cracked the NAIA National Top 20 list three times.

Priest served as an assistant coach under Hanover College (Hanover, Ind.) legend Mike Beitzel (ranked 23rd Winningest Coach All-Time in NCAA D-III) for seven years prior to his Ohio Dominican position.  During those seven seasons, the Panthers gathered a 126-54 record and made two NCAA D-III National Tournament appearances.  Priest also helped coach Hanover's David Benter, the 1995-96 NCAA D-III National Player-of-the-Year.

Priest spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and Indiana State University (Terre Haute, Ind.) before taking the position at Hanover.

Priest earned his master's in Sports Studies from Miami University in 1997 and completed his bachelor's degree at Ohio Northern University in 1990.  He was a three-year letterman for the Polar Bears and helped lead his team to the NCAA D-III National Tournament in 1988.  Priest still holds the record as Ohio Northern's career 3-point field goal percentage leader (.486).

Priest is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and serves as the Chairman of the NABC's Marketing and Promotions Committee.

Priest is a native of Oxford, Ohio.  He and his wife, Tricia, reside in Conway with their two sons, Jacob (10) and Mitchell (7), and daughter Carly (5).
