Doug Mello enters his second year as head coach of the Hendrix College men's soccer team. Mello started a new era of Hendrix soccer in 2008 as the Warriors improved during his inaugural season with a 5-12 overall record and 2-8 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark.
Mello joins the Warriors after serving as the head men’s and women’s soccer coach for 18 years at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He also served as the Events Coordinator and Physical Education Instructor at Luther. During his time with the Norse, his men’s team won six Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) titles, made five NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances (Elite Eight - 1995, 2001) and tallied a 240-119-13 overall record. His women’s team won three IIAC Championships and accumulated a 219-120-26 overall record. Mello currently holds the NCAA Division III record for most consecutive conference wins with 42.
Mello enters the 2009 season with a 391-210-34 overall record during his 29 year career as a men’s head coach. His resumé ranks among the best active coaches in collegiate soccer, as his win-total ranks 27th among NCAA active coaches (all divisions), and 10th among NCAA D-III active coaches. Mello's 282-139-32 overall record as a women’s head coach ranks him tied for 22nd on the NCAA All-Divisions Winningest Coaches (by victories) list. His previous college coaching experience includes a six-year stint at Siena Heights College (1982-88), a four-year tenure at Aquinas College (1978-82) and one year at College of the Southwest (1989).
Mello earned his master's in Counseling from Siena Heights University in 1985 and completed his undergraduate studies from Aquinas College in 1978. Mello resides in Conway with his wife Gina and son D.J. and daughter Marissa.

Ben Parman enters his second season as the men's and women's soccer assistant. Parman was hired in the summer of 2008 and has made an immediate impact on the men's and women's programs. Parman specializes in coaching the Warrior goalkeepers, as he was a four-year letterwinner and standout goalkeeper for head coach Doug Mello during his last four seasons with Luther College.
On a prestigious list of Norse keepers, Parman ranks fifth all-time with a 1.08 career goals against average and seventh all-time with eight career shutouts. He posted great numbers as a starter his junior year with a .835 save percentage (4th in IIAC), 76 saves (5th in IIAC), 1.10 goals against average (5th in IIAC) and five shutouts (5th in IIAC). Parman ended his four-year collegiate career with just 23 goals against, 113 saves, eight shutouts and an 8-8-1 overall record in over 1,900 minutes guarding the net.
Parman earned his bachelor's in Business Management with an emphasis in Sports Management from Luther in May of 2008. He is an active member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds a National D Coaching License. Parman coaches locally in Conway with the Arkansas Rush Soccer Club as the Director of Coaching for Goalkeepers, and also with the Arkansas Olympic Development Program as the State Goalkeeping Coach.
Parman also serves as the Kinesiology Department's Bowling Instructor. He currently resides in Conway with his pet dogs Frank and Lin and is an avid Tecmo Bowl and Wii Bowling player.
