The self-study process of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools through the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ) occurs every ten years and affords the College an opportunity to seriously examine its institutional goals, functions, practices and outcomes.  Since the 1998-1999 self-study Hendrix changed its curriculum and calendar, added the Odyssey Programs, created new majors and minors, conducted a capital campaign, added athletic teams, and brought significant building additions to campus.  Many of these changes were evaluated separately, but the 2008-2009 self-study was an opportunity to examine how well these changes functioned in the whole.

The College has received formal notification that on August 17, 2009, the Institutional Actions Council voted to continue the accreditation of Hendrix College. The next comprehensive evaluation is scheduled for 2018-2019.
