Dr. David Sutherland

David Sutherland, Director, is the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and a professor of mathematics. David graduated from Hendrix in 1981 and returned to teach mathematics in 1992. He followed Rosemary Henenberg as Director of the Hendrix-Murphy Programs in 2002. As Director, he chairs the Programming Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee, as well as supervises the Hendrix-Murphy staff.

Henryetta Vanaman

Henryetta Vanaman, Program Manager, organizes and facilitates programs and events, handles publicity, and administers program evaluation. She has been with the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation since 2002, when the Bertie Wilson Murphy Building first opened. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with degrees in English and Studio Art (concentrations in Sculpture and Photography) and a minor in Urban Studies and Design. As a Donaghey Scholar at UALR, she also studied French at the Université d’Orléans in Orléans, France.

Sarah Engeler-Young

As Office & Building Manager, Sarah Engeler-Young provides administrative support for the Foundation and manages the Bertie Wilson Murphy Building. She graduated from Hendrix with degrees in Sociology and Theatre Arts and holds an MA in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sarah has taught theatre history and dramatic theory in the Hendrix theatre arts department and was also the alumni winner of the 1994 Hendrix-Murphy Playwriting Contest. She ishappy to help members of the campus community plan events in the Murphy House and can also answer all Murphy-related purchasing and accounts payable questions.
