HENDRIX-MURPHY ANNUAL AND THREE-YEAR PROGRAM GRANTS
Hendrix-Murphy Program Grants. There are two types of major Hendrix-Murphy Program grants: annual and three-year programs. All programs must focus on literature and language but may involve other disciplines as well. Following are descriptions of each category. Three-year proposals are for programs that may require funding for more than one year, such as those categories (and examples) in the following list.
THE DEADLINE IS JANUARY 27, 2010, FOR 2010-2013 PROPOSALS.

REPORTS: Coordinators of ongoing three-year programs should submit reports by the same deadline, January 27, 2010. You may download the
report form here. Coordinators are also responsible for collecting evaluations from student and other participants. You may download a suggested
evaluation form here.
Annual proposals are for programs that involve (1) events and gatherings like lectures, readings, book clubs, workshops, cultural evenings, and film screenings that explore the theme for that particular year and (2) one-time expenditures for books, capital equipment, and other supplies. Faculty in any discipline may propose theme-related programs for funding from a general allocation and from an additional allotment for the annual Murphy Visiting Poet series. Faculty in English, Foreign Language, and Theatre Arts and Dance Departments may also apply for funds that are limited to their departments and that may or may not relate to the annual theme.
For 2009-2010, the program theme is “Word and Image,” and the proposal deadline is October 20, 2008. The attached request for proposals describes the theme; also attached are individual program proposal forms and guidelines:
• 2010-2011 theme description and request for proposals
• 2010-2011 Murphy Visiting Poet proposal form
• 2010-2011 visitor or residency proposal form
• 2010-2011 visitor proposal guidelines

• 2010-2011 supplies proposal form
Please note that proposals for student and/or faculty programs involving study travel, travel or other projects, conference travel, as well as some long-term residencies, should be submitted during the three-year proposal process (see below), which will begin in mid-November with a mid-January deadline. Other possibilities for support of travel projects include the Murphy Away Program (MAP) and the Undergraduate Research Conference Travel fund.
Coordinator reports are required for all annual programs and should be submitted no later than September 1, 2010. You may download the report form here. Coordinators are also expected to collect evaluations from students and other participants in their programs. You may download a suggested evaluation form here.
