ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (Sept. 2) -- First year Melissa Clement (pictured) led Hendrix College with seven kills, while sophomore setter Ashley Skinner tallied 17 assists in the Warriors season-opening 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) loss to Ouachita Baptist University on Tuesday at the Sturgis PE Center.

The Tigers picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-4 overall, while Hendrix dropped to 0-1 overall. The Warriors will look for their first win over the weekend when they travel to Sherman, Texas to compete in the University of Dallas Invitational. Hendrix opens the tournament against Dallas on Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. CT, then takes on McMurray University at 7 p.m.

Clement (Rogers, Ark./H.S.) also collected three digs, one service ace, one solo block and a block assist. Skinner (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) also made four digs in the match. Junior libero Kim Larson (Bentonville, Ark./H.S.) led the squad with five digs, while junior Leah Groat (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central H.S.) tallied six kills in a team high 19 attempts. Senior Ryan Hughes (Dallas, Texas/Episcopal H.S.) totaled five kills and one service ace.
