Warriors Win in Resilient Fashion, 1-0, over SCAC Foe Austin
(Womens Soccer) Permanent linkCONWAY, Ark. (Oct. 30) -- The Hendrix College women’s soccer team outlasted Austin College, despite being outshot 16-7, with a 101st minute penalty kick score by junior midfielder Lydia Nash on Friday night at Warrior Field.
The Warriors improve to 9-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action, while the Kangaroos drop to 8-5-2 on the year and 2-4-1 in conference play. Hendrix will look for its first five win SCAC season since going 5-3-1 in 2001.
Nash (Fremont, Calif./Washington H.S.) scored her third goal of the season for the golden goal after first year forward Ashley Gallegos (El Paso, Texas/Chapin H.S.) was taken down inside the box, just 1:31 into the second overtime.
Hendrix recorded just two shots on goal, compared to Austin’s eight. Warriors’ sophomore goalkeeper Allison Mosley (Sulphur, La./St. Louis Catholic H.S.) had an outstanding effort in front of the net with six saves on the night.
