SAN ANTONIO, Texas. (Feb. 5) -- Hendrix College senior forward Christina Byler stood at the charity stripe with 21.6 seconds left in regulation and with ice in her veins, drained both attempts for the game-winning lead change, 71-70, over Trinity University Friday evening at Sams Gymnasium.

Hendrix picked up its first win at Trinity and completed its first regular season sweep of the Tigers since the 2000-01 season.  The Warriors own a 15-3 overall record and 10-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) mark.  Hendrix stretches its win streak to six games (nine out of last 10 affairs) and now holds a 1.5 game lead over Austin College (14-6/8-3 SCAC) and 2.0 game lead over Trinity (14-6/8-4 SCAC) for tops in the West Division.  The Warriors will now travel to Georgetown, Texas to take on Southwestern University on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.

The Warriors led for the majority of the second half, however, the Tigers stayed within striking distance and a 13-3 swing ending on a 3-pointer from Trinity junior guard Danielle Hubenak with 4:52 to go put the home team on top, 68-62.

Hendrix kept its composure and finished the game on a 9-2 run, thanks to 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line and a long ball from Byler (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy).  Sophomore guard Jordan Henderson (North Little Rock, Ark./Central Ark. Christian H.S.) found Byler open behind the arc with 1:22 on the clock to make it 69-71, and Byler earned a trip to the free throw line after pulling down an offensive rebound one minute later.

A thrilling first half, which included two lead changes and five ties, concluded with Hendrix on top, 36-32.  The Warriors out rebounded the Tigers, 23-12, in the opening 20 minutes.  Hendrix out scored Trinity 11-2 on second-chance points and was hot off the bench, out scoring the Tigers 20-7.  The Warriors dialed up four 3-pointers in the first half, with senior point guard Amanda Morris (North Little Rock, Ark./Central Ark. Christian H.S.) recording two of the long bombs.

Trinity managed to hold Byler scoreless in the first half, however, the SCAC Co-Player-of-the-Week dropped 13 points in the second half and finished the game with eight rebounds and three 3-pointers.  Henderson and sophomore guard Anna Roane (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Preparatory) added 10 points apiece.  Henderson (pictured) dished out a team-best four assists.  The Warriors shot 41.8 percent from the field (47.4 percent from 3-point land) and went 16-of-18 from the free throw line.

The Tigers were led by sophomore forward Kelsey Goodell with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Hubenak collected 15 points and nine assists, while sophomore forward Abby Dietert scored 10.  Trinity shot 46.2 percent from the field and was just 5-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Hendrix out rebounded Trinity, 40-30, and had the most support off the bench, 32-14.  Neither team led by more than seven points in the entire game.
