CONWAY, Ark. (Jan. 31) -- Hendrix College senior forward Christina Byler (pictured) scored a season high 28 points and pulled down a career best 25 rebounds in the Warriors’ 83-66 win over SCAC foe Sewanee-The University of the South on Sunday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium.

Hendrix improves to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Sewanee falls to 6-13 on the year and 2-9 in league play. A loss from Austin College (14-5, 8-3 SCAC) today gives the Warriors the lone spot at the top of the West Division. Hendrix now will take its five game win streak to Trinity University (14-5, 8-3 SCAC) on Feb. 5 in San Antonio, Texas.

Byler (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy) had her double-double at the half with 14 points and 12 boards and finished the game 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. She ended the affair 9-of-23 from the field with 10 rebounds on the offensive end and 15 from the defensive end. Byler was three rebounds away from tying the SCAC’s single-game record of 28 rebounds, set by Jennifer Warren of Trinity (vs. Austin on 12/7/94).

Sewanee sank a 3-pointer on its first bucket of the game for its lone lead of the game. Hendrix ended the last 10 minutes of the first half on a 30-7 run and owned a 47-24 advantage at the break. The Tigers would only get within 15 points of the Warriors lead the rest of the way.

Senior point guard Amanda Morris (North Little Rock, Ark./Central Ark. Christian H.S.) drained four long balls and finished with 13 points and six assists. Sophomore guard Jordan Henderson (North Little Rock, Ark./Central Ark. Christian H.S.) matched her career high with 12 points and also dished out six assists. The Warriors shot 40.8 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the charity stripe.
